Question

Manual transaction download

I can download my bank transactions into QBO files.  However, when I try to import them, I get a message that says:

"QuickBooks is unable to verify the Financial Institution information for this download."

I have a copy of a QuickBooks bank ID list, but my bank is not in the list.  How do I get it there? Do I contact QuickBooks support or the bank?

Any help is greatly appreciated!  Thank you!

If the bank is creating the QBO file properly it should work.

What version of QuickBooks are you using?

Just updated to 2023... Same result...

I'm sure the problem is that the bank isn't in the list of currently supported banks in QuickBooks...  I had a similar issue with another client using TD Bank and all I have to do is change the Bank ID in the QBO file for it to work properly... This is a little town co-operative bank...

Let me provide some insights to help download your bank transactions in QuickBooks, @ckshea13.

Before anything else, may I know the name of the bank? I appreciate any extra information you can give, and it will help us isolate the issue and provide the best solution.

Then you can also contact your bank to verify the correct link to use. This way, you can download your transactions successfully. If your bank isn't supported, you can ask your bank if you have the option to import your transactions manually.

In addition to that, the error message is one of the Web Connect problems that can happen for a variety of reasons. There could be some files from the bank that are occasionally incomplete or in the incorrect format. Changes at your bank can also cause problems.

To resolve this, let's download your Web Connect file directly from your bank, not from inside QuickBooks. Make sure the file you download from your bank is a .qbo file, the only type Web Connect can read.

  1. Log in to your bank's website
  2. Locate and download the Web Connect file.
  3. Open QuickBooks and your company file, then import the .qbo file.

Then, switch Bank Feeds modes. to proceed, here's how:

  1. Choose the Banking menu.
  2. Click Change Bank Feeds Mode by hovering over Bank Feeds.
  3. Select Classic mode (Register mode) under the Bank Feeds section.
  4. Then, follow the procedures to import the .qbo file.

If issue persists, continue the procedures outlined in this article: Fix Web Connect import errors.
