Hi,

My problem is the sales receipt is greater by $0.02 to the bank feed amount. I saw the sales receipt when I choose to find match and my problem is when I click the resolve tab and save it there is a message to choose a bank account. How to resolve it?

Thank you!

Hi Melody1219!

It's good to see you posting tonight! I'll be happy to help you resolve the difference, so you can match the transactions.

Basically, the sales receipt and the downloaded deposit don't match at all, so when you force match them, you need to tell QuickBooks where this $0.02 goes? That's what the resolving transaction is for, like in the screenshot below. However, you have to be extra cautious when you do this because that resolving entry will literally be saved as a separate transaction in your register. Therefore, if there's no such transaction in real life, I recommend doing a different process so there will be no issues when you reconcile.

The other way is to deposit the sales receipt first, where you can deduct and account for the $0.02 difference. This won't save it as a separate transaction. Then, that deposit will become a matching entry to the deposit on the Banking page.

  1. Open your sales receipt and make sure the Deposit to field is set to Undeposited funds.
  2. Make a deposit by clicking on +New and choosing Bank deposit.
  3. Select the sales receipt and add the deduction in the Add funds to this deposit section.
  4. Choose an account, add a description, and enter -0.02 in the AMOUNT field.
  5. Click Save and close.

That will do it. You may also check about reconciling an account for your reference in the future.

I'm just right here if you have any other questions about matching your transactions. Take care and good evening!
