Question

Missing transactions from bank feed - can I add to the register manually?

Using Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2018

I am missing transactions from the downloaded bank feed.  As a double check I also downloaded the CVS file to my desktop for the same account and everything is there in that file.  Why is this happening?  Can I just load the missing transactions into the register manually?

Hi there, @Qwerty1454.

I'll share some information about missing transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

Yes, you can manually enter the missing data directly into the register. The possible reason of the missing transaction is this following:

  • QuickBooks is not in the latest release.
  • There's a problem with the connection between your bank and QuickBooks.

Before providing the troubleshooting, may I know the specific bank name you currently using? That way, I can double-check our reports and provide you with the exact resolutions.

Let's update the bank first to refresh the connection between your bank and QuickBooks. So the current data will flow in the bank feeds.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Select Bank Feeds.
  3. Click the Bank Feeds Center.
  4. Choose your account and click the Refresh icon a couple of times.

If the issue persists, I'd recommend entering the data manually so you can categorize and reconcile your accounts whenever you’re ready.

I've also added articles about handling imported transactions, accounts, and other relevant matters.

Let me know in the comment section if you have follow-up questions. I'm happy to provide answers.

I downloaded the qbo report to the desktop from my CU and loaded/imported from there.
As mentioned, that qbo file is missing almost 40 transactions. They DO show in the CVS file I downloaded from the bank to double check. Also it's not similar transactions. Missing from the bank feed qbo file are deposits, transfers, debit card transactions. Seems so random.

Thanks for reaching back out to the Community. It's my priority that you're able to see these missing transactions in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) account. Allow me to provide you with some information about this problem.

Since your QuickBooks is up-to-date and the connection between our product and your bank is good, then I recommend contacting our Customer Support Team. They can use a screen share to walk you through some additional steps to help get this problem fixed as soon as possible. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Choose the QuickBooks Desktop Help option.
  3. Click the Contact Us hyperlink.
  4. Type in your question and hit Let's Talk or Continue
  5. Scroll down and select to Get a callback

That's all there is to it. In addition, here's an article that can give some other details about importing and exporting data into your QBDT account.

This is driving me nuts. I buy Quickbooks so I don't have to manually input bank transactions, my band feeds are set up and now when I start to work on October 2022, most of October  is missing. I have followed the advice on line to no avail and then they say manually input the data. Why am I paying for a service which is not working. I have refreshed the accounts ...... what should I do now.

Hello there, @Phone number for Self Employed.

I'll share info on how you can download your bank transactions based on the product you're using.

Before anything else, I'd like to know what product you're utilizing as well as the name of your bank institution.

If you're using QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) and connect your bank account to it, you'll be able to download transactions for up to 90 days so you'll never record them manually.

If transactions don't pull up, there might be an issue with your bank institutions. Take note that your bank controls the info received by QuickBooks.

Moreover, to get your October transactions, log in to your bank's website and download them as a Web Connect (.qbo) file. Then, import them into the program.

Just ensure that you're using the latest release of your QuickBooks product to be updated with all the security patches. After that, make a backup copy of your company file.

Once done, follow the troubleshooting procedures provided in this article: Fix Web Connect import errors.

If the issue persists, I recommend contacting QBDT support to help you find a fix.

On the other hand, if you're using QuickBooks Self-Employed, let's manually update so your link refreshes its connection with QuickBooks. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Connect Bank under Transactions.
  3. Click Refresh all.

Once you see that transactions are downloading, let's manually import your October transactions in QBSE. Check out this article: Manually import transactions into QuickBooks Self-Employed.

For future help, if you want to match your bank transactions in QBDT, read this article: Add and match Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.
