Question

Moving bulk transactions from one bank register to another

I was helping our treasurer enter a years worth of transactions into quickbooks online plus.  After I entered them all, she told me she had two different checking accounts tied in the system and that all the new transactions need to go on the other register in order to reconcile.  Is there a way to bulk move transactions from one bank account register to another, without manually editing each one?

It's good to have you here in the Community space, @jennkiss022.

The option to move transactions from one bank register to another is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). However, there is an alternative solution you can perform to ensure the entries are added to the correct register.

First, you'll need to exclude and delete the transactions in the wrong account. Let me walk you through the steps for a seamless process:

  1. In your QBO account, go to the Banking tab, then select Banking (Take me there).
  2. Select the tile where the transactions were added, then click on the For Review tab.

  3. Tick the checkbox of the transactions to exclude.
  4. Select Exclude.

  5. In the Excluded tab, tick the checkbox of the transactions to delete.
  6. Click on Delete.

For detailed steps, kindly visit: Exclude a bank transaction you downloaded into QuickBooks Online.

Afterward, you can upload the entries again into the correct account. Note: Make sure to select the tile for the bank register you want to upload the transactions into.
