Question

My account is not ready for reconciliation. Some transactions were deleted after it was reconciled. How do find the deletions and fix this? Very frustrated!

These were all deposits. I went through the register; however, that procedure wasn't helpful as I could not find the deleted deposits. There  are many deposits of the same amount (e.g., 21.95 77.45).

Hi there, @drstewart512.

I understand the frustration of not having this process as anticipated.  Let me assist you in resolving this matter. To work this out, you have to manually recreate the deleted reconciled item in QuickBooks Online (QBO). To retrieve the details of the deleted transaction, you can check them at Audit Log.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon and select Audit Log.
  2. From the Filter dropdown menu, select the appropriate user, date, and event(s).
  3. Then, locate the deleted transaction.
  4. When you find the deleted item, click View under the History column.
  5. You'll see all the information needed for the transaction under the Event section.
  6. Use those details to re-enter the transaction with its original date.

After recreating the deleted item, manually reconcile the transaction in your account register. Let me walk you through:

  1. Click the Gear icon and choose Chart of Accounts.
  2. Look for the account where the transaction is allocated. Then, select View Register
  3. Select the transaction to expand the view.
  4. Under the check column, continuously click the box until you see (reconciled).
  5. Then, select Save.
