Question

My bank statement shows a cleared check for $2,116.97, but the correct check amount is $2,166.97. I saved the reconciliation for now. What should I do next?

Everything else balances with the exception of this $50. difference.

It's nice to see you here, @svp2,

I want to ensure you can rule out the balance difference in your QuickBooks account so you can resume your reconciliation.

The key to a successful reconciliation is making sure the bank statement matches with the transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO). The register balance in QuickBooks is supposed to match with the bank statement.

QuickBooks balance is composed of the transactions created or added in the program, while the bank statement is the total of entries cleared in the bank. To fix this, find the transaction in QuickBooks and correct the amount to match the bank statement. Then, you can resume the reconciliation after that.
