Question

My bank updated from Belpre Savings Bank to First Mutual Bank and I can't get the bank account sync to work. Can QBs update the bank it is connecting to?

I've got all the steps you'll need to update your bank connection in QuickBooks Online, @joshua-isaac-cam.

If you're trying to change your bank account information connected to QuickBooks, you can update it on the Banking page.

Here's how:

  1. Select Banking from the left menu.
  2. Click the Edit ✎ icon for the bank account you want to update.
  3. Choose Edit account info.

  4. Input your updated bank info and click Save and connect.

Once completed, the system will try to connect with your bank to verify your information. Once you see a confirmation message, select I'm done, Let's go!. You can also review this article for more detailed steps: Update your bank account sign-in information.

For good practice, you can match and categorize your downloaded transactions to ensure they go to the right accounts and prevent duplicates.

Additionally, to make sure they match your real-life bank and credit card statements, you may reconcile them. Please browse this resource for the steps on how: Reconcile an account.

I'd like to hear more from you in the comment section if you've got other concerns about your bank connection. Take care and have an awesome day.

@Rubielyn_J , you're almost there. yes, edit account info and then disconnect this account on save. basically, they need to disconnect the existing account and connect the new one (new name).

@joshua-isaac-cam , unfortunately, you have to wait until the new name becomes searchable on the banking page. you can see it in a few days. if it's grayed out, it's not ready for a connection yet.. just upload your transactions for now

Another option, utilize MT Online for the time being. It is designed to import into any bank or credit card in QuickBooks Online, so there is no specific setting needed.
