Thanks for posting on this thread with your query, TS45. Managing beginning balances in your data will help ensure your accounts are accurate during the reconciliation process. Let me provide information to help you fix the amount discrepancies and correct the adjustments.

In QuickBooks, making adjustments when reconciling an unbalanced account to zero out the difference, beginning balances in your file will affect its record.

In your case, you'll need to undo the reconciliation, then find the previous reconciled adjustments. Before doing these processes, I'd recommend consulting your accounting professional to help you guide and further check the accuracy of your books.

You can either use the Search function to locate all reconciliation adjustments or run a Transaction List by Date report. To do this:

  1. Go to Reports and enter Transaction List by Date report from the search section.
  2. In the fields under Report period, select the appropriate time frame or set custom dates.
  3. Click the Customize icon and hit the Filter option.
  4. Select the Memo checkbox and enter Reconcile Adjustment in the field. Then, Run report.
  5. Find and review all necessary transactions and balances.

Once ready, you may opt to delete this record, then correct the beginning balances of your account. Always compare the opening balance in QuickBooks with your real-life account to ensure the accuracy of your financial data.
