My registers stopped showing a running total, how do I change it back if I can?

Are you referring to the QuickBooks Balance and Bank Balance columns on the bank register? If so, you'll want to enable this column from the settings. 

Simply click the Gear icon, then mark the QuickBooks Balance and Bank Balance boxes.
