Question

My unemployment tax went through the bank on 10/30/2020 but was recorded in QB 11/02/2020 and now I can't reconcile. What do I do?

My reconcile is off by the unemployment tax transaction 10/30/2020 recorded in the bank. I cannot figure out how to change the date in QB. How to reconcile?

It's good to hear from you today, chrisnest.

I'm here to help review your unemployment tax records and have those transactions reconciled. Let's get started.

When reconciling in QuickBooks Online, it should show all the unreconciled transactions regardless of the date period. You can include the 11/02/2020 unemployment tax records in your October reconciliation.

However, if you need to show these transactions for the October records, you can delete and recreate them. Here's how to delete a tax payment:

  1. Click Taxes in the left panel and choose Payroll tax.
  2. Select View tax payments you have made under Taxes.
  3. Pick the name of the tax payment. Change the date range if necessary.
  4. From the View and Print Form drop-down, select Delete. If you don't see delete, you cannot delete the payment. Contact us for assistance.
  5. Hit Yes to confirm the deletion.

To know more about this process, you can read through this article: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online. On the same link, you'll find write-ups about how to review your previous reconciliation as well as adjusting them in QuickBooks.

Let me know if you still need help with this or if you ran into a different situation by adding a reply below so I can look further into this. I want to make sure your transactions are accurate and you're able to reconcile them. Have a lovely week.
