I have started using a credit card that is from the same bank as my primary bank. I have created an account for my credit card, I have it set as "credit card" not "bank". I tried to set up bank feeds, but it will not find my bank. However, I can go through file/utilities/import/web connect files to bring in the credit card transactions , but not able to assign these transactions to the credit card account? I have tried making the credit card account a "bank", but still cant' assign the transactions to it? When I bring the transactions in, I click on "use an existing quickbooks account" but the only options are "advance customer payments", "business loan", or "payroll liabilities"? Why do I not see the credit card accou

Thanks for sharing such detailed information, dogwood1.

Since the challenge with adding your credit card and assigning transactions continues after choosing the use an existing Quickbooks account, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Care Support. They have the tools like screen sharing to help conduct further investigation.

Here are the steps to contact support:

  1. Click Help at the top menu and select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. In the Have a Question? window, enter a topic.
  3. Click Contact us.
  4. Hit the Get a callback button.

You can also read through this article for the whole process in using Bank Feeds in QuickBooks Desktop: Get started with Bank Feeds for QuickBooks Desktop.

Be sure to get back to me if you have additional questions. I'm just a comment away. Wish you all the best.

Thanks for the reply. I have been on a 'chat' w/ support for the last 2 hours. They don't seem to have any more information than I easily found on google searches. They wanted to create test companies and run various diagnostics. My QB is up to date and works fine. This can't be that hard to sort out?

So, I have figured out that the only items available to select, when importing the transactions, via file/utilities/import/web connect files, under "use an existing QB account" are items that are listed as "other current liability". Thus, if the account is listed as a "bank" or "credit card" it does not show up as an option. I believe this is at the core of the issue that I'm having? Not sure if I can leave my credit card account as an "other current liability"? If so, would at least offer a work around?

Thanks,

Michael K

Thanks for updating us, @dogwood1.

When importing a Web Connect File, only asset and credit card liability accounts will be provided. if those aren't showing, I recommend checking your file for data damage. If your file is damaged, it may cause issues like this. Checking for errors or damage is super easy and only takes a moment. Check it out:

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the QuickBooks Tool Hub file. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it (like your Downloads folder or your Windows desktop).
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. When the install finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub. Note: If you can't find the icon, do a search in Windows for QuickBooks Tool Hub and select the program.
  6. From the tool hub, navigate to the Company File Issues tab.
  7. Click Run QuickBooks File Doctor. It can take up to one minute for the file doctor to open.
  8. In QuickBooks File Doctor, choose your company file from the drop-down menu. If you don’t see your file, click Browse and search to find your file.
  9. Select Check your file (middle option only) and then Continue.
  10. Enter your QuickBooks admin password and then select Next.
  11. If the scan finds any damage, be sure to hit Repair the file in your existing version.

That's it! Keep me updated by using the reply button below. I'll be here to make sure we get you back to business. Have a good one.

Thanks for the reply Michael K. Support checked for errors, re-built the file and a whole host of things, no problems with the file or the data.

I have almost the same issue. QB does not open choices to select an account to import credit card transactions. Was you able to find a solution?
