Old transactions not showing up

I just got started with QuickBooks. I've noticed that only the last 3 months of transactions are showing up in the banking tab and cash flow forecast. I had already removed all the accounts and readded them to make sure that I had chosen the option to pull all transactions for the life of each account and the issue is persisting. Has anyone had this issue?

Let's get started on this right away, @ryan164. I'll share details on how you can upload previous transactions from your bank to QuickBooks Online.

Before we start, may I ask what's your banking institution? May I know if you receive a specific error while doing the process?

We need to import the banking transactions if you need to transfer all the previous files. This way, we need to choose the file date to upload in this process.

Please follow the procedure below:

  1. From the Banking tab, go to the Banking section.
  2. Select the Link account ▼ dropdown and then Upload from the file.
  3. Select files and then choose the file you downloaded from your bank. Then select Continue in the QuickBooks account ▼ dropdown.
  4. Select the account you want to upload the transactions. Then select Continue.
  5. Follow the onscreen steps to match the columns on the file with the correct fields in QuickBooks. Then select Continue.
  6. Select the transactions you would like to import. Then select Continue.
  7. Select Yes.
  8. When you accept your transactions, select Done.

For additional insights, let me show you a glimpse of this article that will guide you on uploading your banking transaction manually.

Once done, you are now ready to reconcile your books. Here's an article that you can refer to for your future reference: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

There you have it, @BMXTransInc. Notify us again if you require more assistance.

Thanks for your quick response. There is no error code, but only transactions from the last three months are showing. This is for all of the accounts I've connected with PNC bank, but it's the checking accounts as well as credit accounts. What you've suggested would be the long way of resolving the issue, but I guess my question is why would the software not show our older transactions when we put the date of uploads from Oct 2021 when we linked the accounts initially?

It's great having you back in on this thread, BMXTransInc. I've come to share additional insights about uploading your previous bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

As QuickBooks depend on the transactions from your bank, some financial institutions allow you to download the last 90 days of your bank entries and have them visible on your banking feeds. For PNC Bank, you'll want to confirm this information directly from them to ensure the accuracy of your downloaded transactions. I'd recommend following the steps provided by my colleague above and ensuring all transactions are imported successfully.

Also, you can manually upload them to help you keep going on categorizing and reconciling your accounts. For more tips and additional guidance, you can check out this reference: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online.

Moreover, I've added this article to help you review and ensure your bank and credit card transactions are always matched: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.
