Question

On my QuickBooks banking it shows two of the same accounts. Both having different totals. How do I get it to only show one account instead of duplicates?

Thank you for sharing your concerns here in the Community, pineland-exp.

I'm here to help you in deleting a bank account.

The first thing you need to do is to check the transactions inside before deleting one. Then you need to disconnect the account before you can delete it. You may also restore it, but journal entries and balance corrections are needed. It's best to check with your accounting professional before deleting an account.

To disconnect an account:

  1. From the left menu, go to Banking.
  2. Select the account to be deleted, then click the Edit icon and choose Edit account info.
  3. From the Account window, select Disconnect this account on save.
  4. Click on Save and Close.

The account stays in QuickBooks, but not automatically updated with downloaded transactions.

To delete an account:

  1. Click the Gear icon, then choose  Chart of Accounts.
  2. Select the account to be deleted.
  3. From the drop-down beside the View register, choose Delete.
  4. Confirm to delete the account.

You may also check on this article if by any chance you want to activate an inactive account

I'm just a post away and willing to help you with your banking concern. Have a great day ahead.
