Question

On terrestrial website: My bank won't connect w/o "fixing a connection." On the app: My bank won't connect until I have logged in on my comp to "fix connection." Help?

Everything used to work just fine on both platforms without any error, now I've just lost the ability to use this entire program on computer and app the way it's designed to be used. BEYOND frustrated!

I want to ensure you'll be able to connect your bank account to QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE). I have all the steps you'll need to fix bank connectivity issues. 

 

Before we start, do you mind sharing the name of your bank? This way, I can check if there's an ongoing investigation related to your concern. 

 

In most cases, bank connection issues happen when:

  • The bank is performing system maintenance.
  • There are notifications from their website that need your attention.

 

To isolate this, you can start by logging into your bank's website to review if there are alerts that need your attention. Once signed in, perform the following steps:

  1. Review your account page for messages, notifications, or alerts.
  2. Check your bank’s website for any announcements.
  3. Perform the needed action (if there's any).
  4. Go back to QuickBooks, then connect your account.

 

You can also connect your account using a private window. This way, we can determine if this is a browser-related issue. Here are the keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N 
  • Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

 

If this works, you can clear the cache and cookies of your browser. If not, you can use another supported browser. Possible that your current browser may have a temporary issue with QuickBooks.

 

I also recommend contacting your bank. They might have an announcement about maintenance or other site changes.

 

Additionally, review how to add bank and credit card accounts to automatically download transactions to QuickBooks. After, you can start approving and categorizing them.
