Online banking discontinued before cutoff date

I have Quickbooks Desktop 2021. I am now getting the popup "Online Banking & other services in QuickBooks 2021 were discontinued on 31/05/2024. You can no longer download transactions from your financial institution. Upgrade to QuickBooks 2024 to reactivate Online Banking."

My online banking is not working even though it is not 5/31/24 yet. Has anybody else seen this? Is there a way to get the function back without upgrading to 2024?

Hello there, @kingfish65.

I'm here to help you resolve the issue with your online banking.

The online banking feature should be working before May 31, 2024, even without upgrading to QuickBooks 2024. That said, let's ensure you have installed all the features and product improvements to ensure your QuickBooks Desktop is up to date.

Here's how:

  1. Close your company files and QuickBooks.
  2. Open the Windows Start menu.
  3. Search for QuickBooks Desktop.
  4. Right-click the icon and select Run as administrator.
  5. While on the No Company Open screen, go to the Help menu and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  6. In the Options tab, choose Mark All and Save.
  7. Mark the Reset Update box in the Update Now tab.
  8. Click the Get Updates button.
  9. Once the Update Complete appears, close and re-open the program.
  10. If you get the message to install an update, select Yes. Restart your computer after the installation.

After the said date, you will not be able to import or download transactions from your bank.

If you don't need to run any add-ons but prefer to keep using the bank feed feature after May 2024, you should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA. They can share another option to consider.

@kingfish65

If you don't use any add-ons (e.g QB Payroll, QB Payment), you can keep using 2021 for good. As of QB Desktop 2022, Intuit only offers the subscription license. Only scammers offer QB Desktop 2024 with non subscription licenses.

The potential problem is the bank feed feature after May 2024. You can download *.qbo files from your bank BUT you can't import directly into your QB Desktop. If your bank provides *.csv files, you will need to use a 3rd party tool to import it into QB Desktop. It's a $199 one time license and you can get $100 cashback to purchase the license from a partner.
