Online banking feed - check numbers not appearing with transactions

We recently connected our bank account to QuickBooks Online. The transactions automatically import from our online banking but the entries do not include the check number so quickbooks is not matching the transactions.

How do we fix this so that check numbers are included each time a transaction comes over from online banking?

Hi there, @nlmc office.

Let me share some information about your concern with check numbers in the bank feeds.

Check number only shows in the bank register if transactions are entered manually in QBO. Also, QuickBooks depends on the entries being fed through by your bank. Thus, we're unable to edit them in QuickBooks. While this isn't an option, you can add the transaction numbers in the Memo field instead. You can do this in the For Review tab.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu on the left pane.
  2. Select the For Review tab.
  3. Choose a check and add the transaction number in the Memo field.
  4. Click Add to continue. Then, you'll be able to access it in the Reviewed tab.

To ensure all entries are accounted for correctly and prevent duplicates, you can categorize and match them. To speed up this process, you can create bank rules in QuickBooks Online.

Then, you can reconcile your account to ensure your books are correct. This way, you can quickly access, print, or export a reconciliation report that might come in handy in the future.

If you have any additional queries about managing your banking in QBO, feel free to reply to this comment. I would be happy to assist you once more. Have a great day ahead!
