Our bank has sold. How do we change in QuickBooks online?

Can I just change the name of the bank in the chart of accounts or need to make different accounts and transfer the balance to the new account?

Let me help you in setting up the new bank account.

 

I suggest you set up a new bank account and simply transfer the balance. This is also to ensure that the transactions won't get mixed. You can follow these steps on how to create a new one:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu and select Chart of accounts.
  2. Click New. Select Bank as the Account Type.
  3. Select a Detail Type and enter a Name.
  4. Tap Save and Close.

 

Once done, go to the + New button and select Transfer so you can transfer the funds from the old account to the new one.
