Our bank was acquired by anther bank and now our banking transactions are importing in the incorrect accounts. How can this be corrected?

I've got you covered, @janette8. I'm here to provide some steps on how you can fix your bank transactions posted to the incorrect accounts in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

 

To isolate this issue, let's first exclude and delete the incorrect bank transactions to avoid duplicate transactions. Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Banking or Transactions menu.
  2. Within the Banking tab, select all the incorrect transactions.
  3. Then click Exclude.

 

 

If the transactions are already categorized, we'll have to go to the Categorized tab. From there, undo the incorrect transactions and exclude them again using the steps above.

 

 

This will move the incorrect transactions to the Excluded tab. From there, you can delete them.

 

 

Once done, you can now follow the steps provided in this article to manually upload bank transactions into QBO.

 

Moreover, if you need to change your bank account, you can disconnect and reconnect to the correct bank account.

 

To disconnect an account:

 

  1. Go to Banking on the left pane, then select Banking at the top.
  2. Choose the account you want to change, and then click the Edit (pencil icon).
  3. Click Edit account info.
  4. In the Account window, check the box next to Disconnect this account on save.
  5. Hit Save and Close.
