Payroll check cleared but never shows on bank reconcile causing out of balance

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, treasurer-fbcpon. Let's perform some troubleshooting steps so you'll be able to see the check as a part of your reconciliation.

When a check appears as cleared in QuickBooks, it will show on the reconciliation page. Since the said entry isn't on the reconcile list, I recommend making sure that the transaction is matched or categorized and posted to the appropriate accounts.

Here's how:

1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
2. Go to the Banking tab and choose the Banking section.
3. Select the blue tile for the account you want to review.
4. Go to the Categorized tab.
5. Click the link in the Added or Matched column to review the transaction.

Additionally, you'll have to use the filters on the Reconciliation page to locate the cleared check or ensure that all transactions are shown. This way, the bank data are accurate. Please follow the steps below.

1. Go to the Gear icon and select Reconcile.
2. Choose the account you want to reconcile.
3. Click the Funnel icon and select All for the Cleared status, Transaction type, and Payee drop-down.
4. Filter the dates in which the check you're looking for is included.
5. Click the Apply button.
