I just installed Pro 2019.  When I tried to print my bank reconciliations, the screen goes gray and will not print the reconciliation.  Can you help?

Hi @lonnie1,

Thank you for providing a detailed explanation of the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far.

Given that you already ran the QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool, as well as using a sample file and still get the same results, I suggest you contact our Technical Support team for assistance.

They can investigate this issue further for you, including a screen share session with your permission.

Here's how:

  1. On your QuickBooks homepage, go to the Help menu.
  2. Choose QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Tap the Contact us button.

Any other issues you may encounter via printing with QuickBooks Desktop, visit this article for reference: Troubleshoot PDF and Print problems with QuickBooks Desktop.

If there's anything else I can assist you with, leave them below. I'll get back to you shortly.

After spending 1 1/2 hours on the phone with Tech Support they found a simple solution.  The "What's New" under "Help" was checked.  Unchecking "What's New" solved the problem. I did not ask why it was still checked or why it only came up during the reconciliation printing, just was glad the problem was fixed.

Let's fix your freezing QuickBooks, Angela.

There could be some program components that were not properly installed during installation. You can run the QuickBooks Print and PDF Repair Tool to fix them. You can refer to this article: Troubleshoot PDF and Print problems with QuickBooks Desktop. Then, go to the Solution 1 section.

Feel free to share some news after you do the steps in the article.

The people that reconcile our bank statements started getting this printing problem after an update to my 2018 version months ago.  I downloaded the fix tool and ran it but nothing changed,  they are still getting the frozen screen.  They were printing the reconciliation reports find before the update and I did not change their security.  I am the Quickbooks administrator and the reports print fine for me.

Hi lonnie1,

We can update your Adobe Reader to the latest version so you can print the reconciliation report without issues. Let me walk you through how.

  1. Inside Adobe Reader, choose Help About Adobe Reader.
  2. If you see versions 8.0, 9.0, or 10.0 showing , you will need to update to 11.0 by downloading the Adobe Reader 11.0 from Adobe's site.
  3. Follow the instructions to install Adobe Reader 11.0 and reboot the computer when finished updating Adobe Reader to the latest release and try to view your previous bank reconciliation report.

Otherwise, you can change the display PDF in your browser's preferences. Here's how:

  1. From the Windows Start menu, select Programs/All Programs to see a list of installed programs.
  2. Choose Adobe Reader/Acrobat.Note: Adobe XI (11.0) and later no longer displays a PDF in the browser by default, so if you are on an older release, updating will resolve the issue.
  3. Choose Edit Preferences.
  4. In the Preferences window, from the Categories list, select Internet.
  5. Click to clear the Display PDF in Browser preference in the Web Browser Options section.
  6. Select OK.

Here's an article for additional troubleshooting steps that you can perform: Resolve Data Damage On Your Company File.

I found if you press on the print reconciliation and then the print screen pops u; and if you then click on preview and click the print button on the preview screen, it then prints.
