QB does not have an online account to handle.. blah blah issue

So my webconnect was missing a month of data, so I had to manually do the download and attempt to import. I keep getting the error as above.. then asks use an existing QB account that are all rando ,like other expense, other income and Paypal... or I have to create a new one and then merge the two.. dont want to keep doing that, it scares me that something will get screwed up.

So what makes it not match ? I assume I need to edit something in this file to make it match my actual bank account in QB.. would the name be wrong or account type or number ? I did alter my account number to have leading zero's and its checking... but not sure if the name is wrong ? since the name in my file and the name on the error dont match up.. so not sure where that is coming from. So what needs to match what in QB and my file so I can get this to import correct.

and for the record, if I hit download transactions again from my bank it says I'm all up the date.

thanks for any insite.

You'll only get the QB doesn't have an online account to handle error message when the account you're using is inactive. Allow me to guide you so you can fix your account, importing and matching issues, Kevin.

In QuickBooks Desktop, you have the option to make an account inactive if you don't want to use this as of the moment. This hides the account from your chart of accounts and transactions. If this is the case and wants to use the account again, you can set this as active. To do so, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Lists menu, then select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Select the Include inactive checkbox.
  3. Right-click on the account you want to make active again, then select Edit Account.
  4. Clear the Account is inactive checkbox.
  5. Click Save & Close.

Once you've done, this will minimize the error that you're getting or resolve the issue. Therefore, you'll will not go through with the process of creating another account and merging them just to make everything right.

For the matching issues, there are times when QuickBooks is unable to match a transactions. This happens because of variety of reason. Take a look at the options below:

  • You haven't entered the transactions into QuickBooks yet. Doing so should change the status to Matched.
  • The transaction could have a different transaction number, amount, date, or name. Find the transaction in QuickBooks and make edits based on your bank records. Doing this will change the status of the downloaded transaction to Matched. Please know that you can only do this if you know you've found the exact match in QuickBooks.
  • If a downloaded transaction matches an already reconciled transaction, QuickBooks won't match them. The reconciled transaction has a checkmark in the CLR column.
  • Although rare, QuickBooks might download duplicate statements or transactions. If transactions have a lightning bolt in the CLR column, they won't match again, even if all the info is the same.

For more information on how you can review and match, read this article: Add and Match Bank Feed Transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

Lastly, you'll get the "it's up to date error when the .qbo file is formatted the same as the last import. You'll have to make sure to confirm that this is a new file and re-import the file

Additionally, check out this article on how you can review your accounts to make sure they match your real-life bank and credit card statements: Reconcile An Account in QuickBooks Desktop.

Thanks Maria,

So when I look at the bank account I'm trying to get the file to attach to, it is active. I use it now to get my bank feed auto downloads. So I am assuming that the file data doesn't match what I have in QB for my online account and that's why it doesn't think its active.

They are both Univest bank.. I just assume something from A to B is not matching in the file that I'm trying to shoe horn in there. Does the name need to exactly match ? or maybe some account number ?
