Question

QB just rearranged our menu without any notice and apparently deleted an active GL account. Can someone explain what's going on?

Hey there, @kogexx.

I'd be glad to share some info on why your QuickBooks menu was rearranged and the possible reason why your active GL account was deleted.

In the past, QuickBooks Online has featured two versions of its navigation menu: Business View and Accountant View. After an update, our developers consolidated these two menus into one single navigation. This way, you and your clients can use the same view for easier collaboration.

For more details, you can refer to the "Consolidated navigation menu in QuickBooks Online" section of this article: QBO new features and improvements.

Regarding the deleted account in your Chart of Accounts, it's possible that someone with access to your QuickBooks accidentally deactivated or deleted the account. To check, let's review your Audit log. This log tracks your activities in QuickBooks, showing who made changes to your books and what they did. Here's how to access it:

  1. Sign in as an admin to access the audit log. Ask your primary admin if you don’t see it.
  2. Go to Settings ⚙ and select Audit log.
  3. Click Filter.
  4. Use the fields on the Filter panel to choose the appropriate UserDate, or Events filter to narrow the results.
  5. Select Apply.

Additionally, you can visit our  QuickBooks New Features and Innovation to stay informed about the latest developments in the program.

Please feel free to reach out if you have more questions about QuickBooks' menu or managing your Chart of Accounts. I'm here to help. Have a great day.
