QB Mac Desktop 2022 : Checks that are cleared are showing up uncleared when reconciling account

When I started reconciling my account, the dreaded QB beginning balance was not matching my bank statement. So I looked up the previous month reconciliation report detail and the report detail with the current changes. I compared the two and found that 4 checks had been, I assumed, deleted. The math made sense and before adding the transactions back into the account, I searched the account for the missing transactions just in case. Well, they showed up and they were cleared.

So I have 4 checks that are cleared, yet the reconciliation reports and when trying to perform a reconciliation, is not recognizing them.

I duplicated the transactions and deleted the old ones, verified data, rebuilt data, restarted my computer, etc and still QB is showing that they are cleared (check mark in the the check register and it says "cleared" on the check) but at the same time showing that they are not cleared and don't exist basically.

I assume this is a glitch. If anyone knows a fix, please help.

Thank you.

Hi there, @wertyuiop.

I appreciate you for sharing your concern in such great detail. I know how important to reconcile QuickBooks records with your bank or credit card statements. I'm here with you to make sure they match.

If your beginning balance doesn’t match your bank statement, one good way to solve this is to use the previous reconciliation reports or account register to find transactions that aren’t cleared (or have changed). I'm glad to know you found these transactions that cause the discrepancy.

Since deleting and recreating them didn't work, I suggest reverting the previous reconciliation. Follow these steps below:

  1. On the Reconcile window, click Undo Reconcile. A window appears that shows you how far back you’re going—back to the beginning balance of the most recent reconciliation you’ve done on this account.
  2. Click OK. QuickBooks undoes the most recent reconciliation.
  3. Now you go back and re-reconcile the account, carefully looking for any errors or changes to transactions so that you end up with the ending balance you need.

If the problem is further back than the most recent reconciliation, you can undo multiple reconciliations one at a time. Follow steps 1-3 above. After QuickBooks undoes the most recent one, the window reappears. Click Undo Last Reconciliation again. Repeat until you undone reconciliations back to where you need to begin.

I'm also adding this article for further details about resolving reconciliation discrepancies: Find Reconciliation Discrepancies (Mac).

Please let me know how these steps turn out. I'm always here if you need any more help getting the balance data your business needs.
