Question

QB pulled in duplicates of my bank transactions for about half the year. Is there any way to search and remove the duplicates?? They are hard to spot as not together

All or most of the day's transactions seem to repeat at the end of the day before the next day, but not always in the same order, and due to number of transactions, not visible at the same time on the computer screen. SO hard to identify and remove them all!

This is not the experience we want our users to have with QuickBooks, Debra. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I can share information on how to remove duplicate transactions in your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).

When you connect your accounts to online banking, QBSE automatically downloads your latest transactions. However, you may occasionally see duplicate transactions due to differences in bank connections and crossed wires.

To prevent duplicate transactions in QuickBooks, you need to double-check your bank statement and your online connection. Follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your bank's website and pull up the statement for the period you see the duplicate.
  2. Once you see the transaction on your statement twice, your data is downloaded correctly.
  3. Make sure your account is only connected to QBSE once. If it's connected twice, you need to hide one of them to stop the system from downloading duplicate transactions.

To do it on a web browser here are the steps:

  1. Sign to QuickBooks Self-Employed.
  2. Go to the Gear icon.
  3. Select Bank accounts.
  4. Make sure your bank account is connected once.
  5. If there's a duplicate, select the toggle to OFF in the Show Account column.

After that, it's important to remove duplicate transactions downloaded from your bank to keep your account updated. Follow this step-by-step guide: Exclude or delete transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Additionally, you may want to review this article to learn how to categorize the transactions you download from your bank or enter into QuickBooks: Categorize transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Let me know if you have other banking concerns or inquiries about managing your self-employed transactions in QBSE. I'm just around to help. Take care always.
