QBO Import fail with error OL-222 - Quickbook Desktop 2023 MAC Plus

QBO file imports stopped working recently, I searched all over net, support and community but could not find concrete answer, we made sure that all the file validations are correct (length's, special characters, etc...)

Cause I discovered is, QBO import is not working in Quickbook desktop if  "in fidir.txt file CREDIT service is not mentioned against the FI from  lookup {BANKING, WEB-CONNECT,CREDIT, DIRECT-CONNECT or BLANK }"

If I use intuit.BID for the bank which has CREDIT service mentioned in fidir.txt then same QBO file import successfully. So there seems no issue in QBO file but the Opted Service for the bank (CREDIT in this case)

Can any one help to validate the theory and help me to understand what is this CREDIT service and from where can we enable for bank so that QBO import will start working

fidir.txt file I refer - https://ofx-prod-filist.intuit.com/qw2800/data/fidir.txt

Hello there, zodgevaibhav.

Error OL-222 indicates that QuickBooks didn't receive a valid response from the financial institution's server. This happens when you try to import one or more characters. QBO file that isn't compliant with the Open Financial Exchange (OFX) standard for exchanging financial data with QuickBooks.

Irregular formatting of the QuickBooks company file may also lead to the QuickBooks banking error OL-222. Make sure to double-check any invalid text on the file before importing them to QuickBooks.

Before we do any troubleshooting steps, I'd recommend creating a backup copy of your company file and updating your QuickBooks Desktop release version.

Aside from not receiving a valid response from the financial institution's server, unsupported characters in the QBO file can also cause this error. Here's how we can edit the file:

  1. Right-click the .QBO file and select Edit.
  2. Select any text editor app to open the file.
  3. Find and remove &amp from the text as it is an invalid character.
  4. Save the file again.

You can find this information and more in the following article: Fix error OL-222 in QuickBooks for Mac.

If you're still experiencing issues, or need further guidance, feel free to post below.

Thank you for quick response, but as I mentioned, Same file works if I change Intuit.BID to some other bank, issue is surely not because of &amp or any other validations.

If I can get clarity on the questions I asked in mail thread will help

"what is this CREDIT service and from where can we enable for bank so that QBO import will start working" (Refer main thread for details)

This issue is happening on Quickbooks Desktop 2020 for Mac, too. I have tried deleting and replacing the fidir.txt files and have reviewed the contents of the qbo files.  This is a recent issue that prevents basic qbo file import.
