Question

Quickbooks Desktop has "make deposits", where I can list checks for deposit and print a deposit slip. How can I do that in Quickbooks Online?

QuickBooks Online (QBO) operates somewhat differently from QuickBooks Desktop, especially when handling banking tasks like making deposits. Not to worry, Dn4, I'm here to help you out!

To begin with deposit-related tasks in QuickBooks Online:

  1. Navigate to the + New button.
  2. Select Receive Payment from the Customers section.
  3. Choose the customer from whom you've received the payment.
  4. Enter the payment details, such as date, payment method, and the amount received.
  5. On the Deposit to, choose the Undeposited Funds
  6. Save and close the transaction.

After recording the received payments, consolidate them into a bank deposit:

  1. Go to + New again.
  2. Click on Bank Deposit under the Other section.
  3. Select the bank account into Undeposited Funds.
  4. On the Select the payments included in this deposit section, tick the payments you recorded earlier.
  5. Then print the slip by clicking the Print below and choose how you print the deposit slip.

Moreover, I've attached an article that will help you print the deposit slip accurately: Set up and print deposit slips in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, you can read this article for instructions on how to reconcile your account to ensure that the balances in QuickBooks match those on your bank or credit card statements: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.
