Quickbooks Online transfers

I have a $2000 transfer or move of money from a QB Online managed checking accounts to savings account. However, I also want to show in the checking account what expense account (i.e. designated giving for mission project abc) this money came out of and I also want to show in the savings account what income account I want the transfer to show against.

Can anyone help with this? I cannot select those accounts on the transfer entry. It only allows to me to select the bank account (checking or savings).

You can only choose bank accounts when creating a transfer entry, huffmt. I can elaborate on the details below while providing another way to designate accounts.

Transferring funds doesn't involve income and expense accounts, as only bank accounts are impacted. This is why there's no option to associate or display which ones the funds come from and against.

As a workaround, consider entering them in a journal entry to see the accounts linked in the transaction. However, it won't be referenced as a transfer anymore. Thus, I highly recommend consulting an accountant before proceeding so you'll be guided accordingly.

To create a JE and view the associated accounts, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the +New icon and select Journal entry under the Other column.
  2. Add the checking account on the first line and specify the expense account where the funds came from on the second line.
  3. On the third and fourth lines, determine the receiving savings account and income account.
  4. Search for the Checking and Savings account one at a time to access their bank register and hover your mouse over the entries.
