Question

Quickbooks shows a transaction date in 2022 of deposits that were made through an online portal in 2021. How can I change the date in Quickbooks?

I'm here to ensure you can edit the deposit date, @jodyt1. No worries, I've got you all the steps you need to successfully do so.

I recognize the importance of having the correct date on your deposits. If this entry is already reconciled and you make any changes to it, the whole reconciliation statement will be inaccurate. You'll want to delete and recreate it.

On the other hand, if the deposit is not yet reconciled, you can go to the Chart of accounts page. Please note that this will not affect your account.

Here's how:

  1. On the left pane, select Accounting.
  2. Click Chart of Accounts and find the bank where the deposit is recorded.
  3. Change the date then, click Save.

To know more about editing deposits, you can check out this article

Another way to change the date is through the Magnifying Glass icon located in the upper-right hand corner. I'll show you how:

  1. Go to the Magnifying Glass icon.
  2. Select Advanced Search.
  3. Click Deposits from the first drop down list.
  4. Choose Account from the second drop down list, and enter the account name.
  5. Click Search.
  6. Find the Deposit transaction and click to open.
  7. Change the date then, tap Save and Close.

For further details on how the account register section works, you can click this article. This contains the steps on how to edit the past and current transactions associated with your account.

You'll want to run the Deposit Detail report to review the transactions. This way, you can ensure the dates are correct. Then, you can proceed to reconciling your account.

Please know that I'm here anytime you have other deposit concerns. It'll be my pleasure to help you. Have a great rest of your day.
