Reconciliations keep disappearing

I am using Quickbooks Nonprofit Edition 2016. I was going to reconcile my bank statement, and when I go to put in the ending balance for the month, I see that it has the wrong date and amount as the starting balance. I see that it has last month's date and balance.

Last month I balanced the account, everything was fine, and I printed the reconciliation detail. Today, when I went to begin the process I saw the wrong amount and date and it seems that my previous reconciliation did not save, even though I backed up the file. This is not the first time that this has happened. I find that I have to redo the previous month, but there is a bigger problem here that I need to fix, which is why it is not saving the reconciliations.

I know how difficult this has been, @teamteacher. Ensuring you'll be able to see the previous reconciliation data is my priority. I've come here with the steps to fix this issue.

We can first go to the reconciliation page and ensure that the Hide transactions after statement's end date box is unchecked. This will help you see the reconciled transactions.

I also recommend checking the Audit trail report to determine any actions made to the previously reconciled account.

If confirmed that everything is fine and you still can't see the previous reconciliations, I now suggest running the Rebuild data tool. This self-resolves most data integrity issues within your company file. Here's how:

  1. Navigate to the File menu.
  2. Next, select the Utilities option.
  3. From there, choose Rebuild Data.

For your reference, please visit this article: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

Once done, close and re-open your QBDT program. Then, check if you can now see the missing reconciliation data.

Please let me know updates on how the steps go. If you have further questions about reconciling your account, don't hesitate to leave a reply below. I'm always around and ready to provide additional assistance. Have a great day ahead and take care always.
