Recording a Cash Deposit in Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2021

Hi. I use QB Desktop Pro 2021 and in my Chart of Accounts I have an Account called "Cash Register" where I Deposit any Cash a customer pays me for Invoices (I usually use "undeposited" for Checks I receive for payment). I have not normally deposited the Cash into my Bank Account (I have a safe). The Cash has accumulated for some time. Due to some circumstances I found it necessary to deposit the Cash into my Bank Account (which is linked to my QB); I did this by manually filling out a deposit slip and receiving a deposit slip from the Bank but now when I want to reconcile my Bank Account I can't because there is an entry in my Bank Account Statement for the Cash Deposit but there is no deposit in my QB. How do I make this Cash deposit entry in my QB so I can reconcile my Bank Account Statement? Thank you

@Icrs1901 No worries, it's pretty straightforward.

First, you'll see a menu at the top of your Desktop program named Banking.

Click on that and you should see an option called 'Make Deposits'.

Second, when the Make Deposits window opens, it may also bring up a window called Payments to Deposit. Close the Payments to Deposit window, it is unnecessary.

In the Make Deposits window, there are several areas. The important ones are the Deposit To field, the Date field, the From Account column and the Amount column.

The Deposit To field should contain the bank account you are wanting to deposit money into.

The Date field should contain the date of the deposit.

The From Account column should contain the Cash Register asset.

The Amount should include the amount of your cash deposit.

You can fill in the other areas according to your own standards of detail, but the four listed above are mandatory.

Once you have those all filled in, click Save and Close and you're done.

@Icrs1901 This advice is given under the assumption that your cash deposit was only for cash, nothing else, and that you're familiar with manually entering deposits into QB. Let me know if such is not the case.

If you're certain that the entry is not present in QB, you'll first want to open the Make Deposits window.

From there, make a deposit as usual, but for the From Account column, enter the Cash Register bank account.

This will effectively move the accumulated cash from the Cash Register asset to the relevant bank as a deposit and allow you to continue with the reconciliation.

No I do not know how to manually enter a deposit into QB Desktop Pro 2021.
