I am working in my clients qboa and for some reason the finance charges and late fees do not get pulled in on the bank feeds for the credit card. Is there a way to manually enter those so that my reconciliations are correct each month? Of course the checking account payments come out correctly when I pay the bill they just aren't in the register for the credit card.

Yes, we can manually record the charges in QuickBooks using the Finance charge option when reconciling the affected credit card account, ttloper5.

To enter the finance charges, we can go to the Reconcile section and select the credit card account from the dropdown. Let me walk you through the process:

  1. Go to Transactions, then select Reconcile.
  2. Choose your credit card account from the dropdown menu.
  3. Add your statement ending balance and specify its date.
  4. Enter the date and amount of the finance charge, along with either an expense or a credit card account for tracking purposes.

Once you've entered this information, click the Start Reconciling button.

After adding finance charges from the reconciliation process, let's find the transaction in the Expense section. From there, we can add the late fees to ensure these changes are reflected in your financial data accordingly.

  1. Go to Transactions, then select Chart of accounts.
  2. Find the credit card account for the transaction.
  3. Under the Action column, select View register.
  4. Click the transaction, then choose Edit. The entry screen for that particular transaction opens.
  5. Enter the checking accounts from the Category and add the amount for the late fees under the amount section.
  6. The amounts for each account should add up to the total amount of the transaction.
  7. Select Save. The transaction now displays Split in the account column.

Please know split transactions will be recorded in detail, ensuring each category is allocated to its respective accounts.
