Sales Doubling

Hi: I recently switched to using the eBay app for all the details of my sales and expenses. I am still getting deposits from eBay to my checking account, so the sales are doubling. How do I classify the eBay deposits, so they do not affect sales?

Let me share some tips on how you can avoid double sales transactions.

When you connect your bank or credit card account to QuickBooks, it downloads your recent transactions. Then, QuickBooks will automatically match your transactions once it detects entries with a similar amount and details.

You'll need to match the transactions from your banking and app transaction page or you can exclude the transactions from your banking page to correct your bank records in QuickBooks. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu, and select the Banking tab.
  2. Click the For Review tab.
  3. Select the checkbox of the transactions to exclude.
  4. Click Exclude.

In case you accidentally exclude the wrong transaction, that’s easy to fix. Just select the Excluded tab, select the checkbox for the transaction, then click Undo. The transaction goes back to the For Review tab so you can decide what to do with it again.

I would also suggest reaching out to your accountant. This way, you'll be guided in choosing the right categories for your deposits to avoid having double sale.
