I reconciled a mont of credit card transactions only to find that they had been logged as credit card credits in the "type" column. How can I unreconcile them and change it to Expenses?

I'm here to help you unreconcile your transactions from a completed reconciliation, @artisanoven.

To achieve this, you can access the account's register and modify each transaction. But if you're uncertain, we suggest consulting your accountant first. They can also reverse the entire reconciliation using a specialized tool. If you don't have an accountant, you can search for one here.

Follow these steps to edit and unreconcile your transactions:

  1. Navigate to the Gear icon, then select Chart of accounts.
  2. Look for the account with the reconciled transaction and click on View register.
  3. Find the transaction. If it's reconciled, you'll see an "R" in the checkmark column.
  4. Click on the transaction to view it in detail.
  5. In the checkmark column, select the box with the "R" until it's blank. This removes the transaction from the reconciliation.
  6. Save your changes.
  7. Close the account register.

After reversing the reconciliation, you can delete the transactions with the wrong category and re-enter them. To simplify the process, you can also import them. Once done, you can reconcile your account again.
