Question

Should I update the bank or QB for all missing transaction data for payee and category? All the sudden the downloaded bank statement only show "withdrawal" but no info.

Let's work this out so we can find the missing downloaded bank statement, which only shows "withdrawal" entries, but no detailed information appears in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

 

To begin, please note that QuickBooks Online only depends on what the bank provides. You'll want to verify if your bank has system issues because that can result in connection errors and downloading problems. Then, manually update it to help in bringing in the transactions:

 

  1. Select Banking or Transactions from the sidebar menu.
  2. Go to the Banking tab.
  3. Choose the appropriate bank account.
  4. Click Update.

 

Second, check the filters under the Bank Transactions tab. Set the filters to All Dates and All Transactions, and make sure to tick the Payee box in the mini gear icon under the Columns tab.

 

Lastly, it's also likely that the browser cache has been stored for a long period already. This causes the browser to behave strangely. To fix this, we can try signing in to your QBO account using a private browser or "incognito" mode. This can help your computer or device run more efficiently by preventing interference from extensions, plugins, or cookies. Here are the shortcut keys for these browsers:

 

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

 

If this works, let's clear the cache and cookies of your browser. If not, you can use another supported browser. Possible that your current browser may have a temporary issue with QuickBooks.
