I printed my QB Checking statements and the beginning balance for this month does not match the ending balance for the prior month - how can that be?

Welcome to the Community space, andy. I've got some steps we can perform to get your bank balance fixed.

The Beginning Balance doesn't match with your ending balance from the prior month due to one of the following reasons:

  • Someone from your users made some changes on your account.
  • Previously cleared and reconciled transactions were voided, deleted, or modified
  • The account wasn't set up a balance or with the right balance

Consider reviewing the original opening balance before checking your beginning balance. Then, check the ending balance you entered and ensure you entered the correct amount. Combine multiple transactions into a single transaction and eliminate transactions you know are correct. After checking all your transactions, you can now proceed to Step 5 in this article.

Additionally, I recommend reaching out to your accountant for the accuracy of your books.  If you don't have an accountant, I can help you find one. Feel free to visit this page: Find a QuickBooks ProAdvisor.

Thank you for reaching out, Andy. I hope the information and steps above have clarified your concern regarding your beginning balance in QuickBooks. If you have further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to post a reply. Our team is available to help and looks forward to assisting you further.
