Question

The bank transaction cards changed to only show the bank balance, can I add the balance in Quickbooks back to the cards at the top of the bank transactions section?

Hello there, @CJENV.

Let me share information about bank balance showing in QuickBooks Online.

In QuickBooks Online, the bank balance in the bank transaction page shows the balance downloaded from that account directly from the bank. While QuickBooks balance affects all the transactions added manually and manually imported via csv files. This includes those that matches and added through online banking.

To make sure they match, you can add all the transactions in QuickBooks based on your bank account that are connected to online banking.

Thank you, but both don't show anymore, which is the issue.  Only the bank balance shows.  I would also like to see the balance in quick books, as it was helpful.  It disappeared with last update and I can't seem to get it back again?

Hello, @CJENV. I understand the importance of being able to view your card balances in QuickBooks.

Since it doesn't show up, let's open your account using a private window. Sometimes, QuickBooks may be poorly configured due to locally stored internet cache files, which can contribute to the software's unusual behavior.

Here are the keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge: Ctrl+ Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Option + P

If it's a success, return to your regular browser. Then, clear your cache to refresh website preferences and remove temporary files that may interfere with QuickBooks. On the other hand, you may also use other supported web browsers

On the other hand, can you provide a screenshot of your concern? With the additional context, I'll be able to explore potential solutions to address your issues concerns.

Meanwhile, once you categorize and ensure all transactions are matched, you can start reconciling your QuickBooks account. This will ensure that all financial records are accurate and discrepancies are resolved promptly.

You can leave a comment below if you require further clarifications regarding bank transactions in QuickBooks. I'm here ready to assist you.

Hello, @markjd11.

Allow me to share some insights about your bank balance.

The bank transactions section is typically a historical record of all bank transactions, including the date, amount, and bank account associated with each transaction. The balance displayed in QuickBooks is simply a summary of the total amount of money in the bank account, and it is not directly linked to the bank transactions section. Therefore, adding the balance from QuickBooks back to the bank transaction cards in the bank transactions section is unavailable.

Perhaps what we are asking is not coming across, because that answer did not help at all.

In the Business View, you can not see the Checking Balance in QBO.  It only shows the current bank balance as connected.  That balance of course does not have outstanding checks, etc.... It is always nice to see both the bank balance and the QBO balance.

In the Accountant View, you can see both.  That is how it should be, and only until recently how it also was in Business View.  What we are asking is why the change to only be able to see in the Accountant View?

Hey there, @CJENV

Thanks for reaching back out.

If you’re brand new to accounting, we recommend using business view. It simplifies your workspace so day-to-day tasks like sales and billing are easier. This lets you do your accounting without learning complicated accounting terms or processes.

If you have accounting experience or want complete control over features, use accountant view. It uses standard accounting language. If you've used QuickBooks Online for a while, accountant view is most likely what you're used to seeing.

For more details, I recommend using this guide: Switch between business and accountant view in QuickBooks Online

If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask. Bye for now!
