Question

The wrong account was pulled into QB after reconnecting. A deposit was made into that account - is there anyway to reverse the deposit (customer paid with debit card).

Additionally I would like to remove this account from QB as it is not one of my business accounts.

Yes, you can reverse the payment of your customer, @cjakubow000. Let me guide you through the process.

Please note that reversing a customer's card payment after the batch closes will incur the same processing fees as the original transaction. However, void or canceled transactions that occurred before the batch closes) will not incur the same processing fees as the original transaction.

To reverse a customer payment:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Payments account.
  2. On the Processing Tools drop-down, select Reverse a Transaction.
  3. Fill out the necessary details and click Search.
  4. Select the transaction you want to reverse and click Submit.

Next, change the bank account on your Merchant Service Center (MSC) to the correct one.

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks mobile app, QuickBooks Money, or GoPayment in a web browser.
  2. Go to Settings and select Account and settings.
  3. Select the Payments tab. In the Deposits section beside Standard Deposits, select Change bank.
  4. Click Add new bank account.
  5. Fill in the necessary details and select Save.
  6. Find the new bank account from the list and click Verify.
  7. Enter the two small amounts we have deposited to the new bank account.
  8. Review the bank account info and complete your request.

After making the changes, resend the invoice to your customer so that the payment will be deposited to the correct bank. Provide the necessary details on why they need to pay the invoice again.

Additionally, reconcile your accounts regularly to keep them accurate and up-to-date.

Please return to this thread if you need further assistance or have other questions about the reversal process. We'll be here to lend a hand.
