Transfer from Desktop to Online causes errors in bank accounts

Hello - I'm a relatively new user of QB. When I transferred from Desktop to Online, my bank accounts became a mess - crazy balances in both my checking and credit card accounts. It appears that the rules I had created in Desktop were causing duplicative entries in the OL version. Has anyone else experienced this and any ideas of how to fix? I've been manually deleting the duplicative entries but there are 1,000s to review. Thanks!

I can share some information about what happens to your bank connection when you convert from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO), @Bunkerup.

When you convert from QBDT to QBO, your bank and credit card accounts set up for Bank Feeds in QuickBooks Desktop will lose their connections and bank rules don’t convert.

Check the following article for more information on how your books convert from QBDT to QBO including your online banking: What to expect when you switch from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.

To resolve this or remove those duplicate entries, I suggest excluding all the duplicate transactions from the For Review tab. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking from the left menu and select the appropriate bank account.
  2. Click the For Review tab, then put a checkmark to the duplicate transactions.
  3. Select Exclude.

For detailed guidance on how to exclude duplicate transactions on the web or in the mobile app, refer to this article: Exclude a bank transaction you downloaded into QuickBooks Online

Once you're all set, you can now continue categorizing and matching your bank transactions. For more information, feel free to check out this article: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Should you need any additional assistance while managing your bank transactions, you can leave a reply below. I'll be sure to get back to you. Stay safe!
