Question

Trying to import Older Transaction data to fill gap but the tool either errors out or declares duplicate transactions, which is false. Do I have to create new account?

I've tried modifying input CSV File. 
I've followed standard quickbooks troubleshooting on how to import transactions.
I appear to be out of troubleshooting methods. I was hoping to just delete entire accounts and import the entire thing again but QB won't let me do that either - best I can do is exclude transactions but I doubt that would accomplish much.

I'm hoping someone has a brilliant idea on how to manage this since QB support is not available on the weekends apparently.

Before anything else, what specific error message did you encounter? Understanding the exact error will help us pinpoint the issue and find the best solution for you.

 

QuickBooks Self-Employed may flag duplicates when importing, but don't worry, you can exclude them easily during the import process. If you encounter issues with the Excel format or exceed the 1000-row limit, ensure to format your Excel file correctly and avoid exceeding the row limit.

 

Instead of creating a new account, you can choose to import all transactions within a desired date range, including both old and recent transactions. If you opt to import transactions within a specific date range, you must delete the existing bank account associated with those transactions. Know that deleting the bank account will erase all downloaded and categorized transactions linked to it.

 

Once done deleting the bank account, you can proceed to import both old and new transactions again. If needed, you can split the data into separate Excel files to manage larger datasets that exceed the 1000-row limit of transactions. Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Profile ⚙ icon and select Imports.
  2. Choose Import transactions.
  3. Follow the onscreen steps to upload the CSV file.
  4. Pick Import.
