I'll make sure you'll be able to create checks in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Barney.

You'll want to ensure you've selected an account from the CATEGORY column under the Category details section from your check. This way, you'll be able to produce it seamlessly.

If you have and the issue persists, I recommend accessing your account in a private or incognito window and create a check from there. This way, we can check if this is a browser cache issue.

QBO uses cache and cookies to help load pages faster on your next visit. When this gets piled up, it causes issues that affect the performance of your account. Using a safe browser is a great way in verifying the issue as this doesn't save any junk files.

To open a private window, you can utilize these keyboard shortcuts depending on the browser you're using.

Press keys:

  • Ctrl + Shift + N for Google Chrome browser
  • Ctrl + Shift + P for Mozilla Firefox & Microsoft Edge browsers
  • Command + Shift + N for Safari browser

If you're able to generate checks, I recommend going back to your regular browser and clear its cache to refresh the system. If the issue remains, I propose using other supported browsers. This way, we can verify if this is a browser-integrated issue.

Once you're all set, feel free to utilize these articles for future use. These can guide you on how to print your checks and how to delete them in case you make some mistakes:
