Thank you for being part of the Community family, @mlctrans. I understand the importance of balancing your transactions, so I'll be here to help you correct them.

The basis for all accounts in QuickBooks is the opening balance. If it's wrong, it has an impact on all subsequent reconciliations. Before reviewing your beginning balance, make sure your opening balance is accurate to begin troubleshooting.

You can then proceed to reconcile the current month using your bank statement as your basis. Make sure the account and month are the right ones. Then, let's match and classify all of the downloaded transactions if your account is linked to online banking. In this manner, you can obtain your precise starting balance.

Additionally, let's make sure that the amount and date of your payments match the transactions in QuickBooks. If you need to change the amount, you can manually edit it in the register.

Here's how:

  1. On the left pane, go to the Accounting menu.
  2. Select the Chart of Accounts and locate the account.
  3. Click View register and tap the transaction to make changes.
  4. Press Save.

You can also determine the root of the discrepancies and modifications by running the reconciliation report for the prior months. I'll show you how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Enter and select reconciliation reports in the search field.
  3. Select the account and period.
  4. Click on View report.

See this article for the complete reconciliation process: Fix issues the first time you reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

Furthermore, I highly recommend consulting your accountant regarding these changes. This way, we can ensure that the correct accounts are affected. Thus, your books are balanced.

Moreover, I've included this guide to make sure the amounts match your real-life bank and credit card statements: Learn the reconcile workflow in QuickBooks. This will help you when you need to fix a reconciliation or edit a completed one.

You can count on us if you have other questions about reconciling your accounts in QuickBooks. We'll be here to assist you. Have a great weekend ahead.
