Let me guide you in importing your QBO file, @sse77mse-gmail-c,

Let's start by downloading your QBO files and saving them on your computer. Web connect (QBO) files are online banking transactions from your bank’s website.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu, then select Bank Feeds and Import Web Connect Files.
  2. Select the QBO file you saved, then click Open.
  3. When prompted to Select Bank Account, select:
    • Use an existing QuickBooks account if the account you're importing transactions into is already set up in QuickBooks.
    • Create a new QuickBooks account if the account you're importing transactions into isn't in QuickBooks yet. Learn how to create an account.
  4. Click Continue. You'll see a dialogue box telling you that the data has been successfully read into QuickBooks. Select OK.
  5. Go to the Bank Feeds Center to review your transactions.

No. You are not addressing my problem. My problem is QB 2020 does not "see" list an existing account when I click Use an existing QuickBooks account. QB sees the account when I got to List of Accounts. Previous data from 2017 is present. Obviously I do not want to create a new account unless there is a super easy way to merge transactions of one account into another.

Hey there, @sse77mse-gmail-c.

I see your response has been responded to in your other thread: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/banking/re-how-do-i-get-qb-2020-pro-to-see-account-that-existed-under-qb/01/669285#M45480

Please follow the steps that were provided by my colleague. It should do the trick in getting your list imported. Please let me know if you have additional questions or concerns. You can reach out to the Community at any time. Take care!

This is normal and it happens when the account you want to import into is already associated with a bank and routing number, or a credit card account number, for import that is different than the ones in the QBO file you're attempting to import.

To get the account to show up as an option, edit it from your chart of accounts and and then on the Bank Feed Settings tab, pick Deactivate All Online Services.

Then try importing the QBO file again and you should see the account as available to associate with your QBO file.

Please test your answers before posting. I do not have Bank Feeds turned, never did, but the option to import a DOWNLOADED file is not offered.

Hi, kiriss.

I appreciate you for sharing the screenshot of the error message you're getting. It's my priority to help you with importing your QBO file into QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) successfully.

This error message QuickBooks is unable to verify the Financial Institution Information for this download is generally caused by invalid data processed or incorrect bank details when downloading a bank statement file. The downloaded file may be saved in a format that's not compatible with QuickBooks.

To isolate the issue, let's make sure to download your Web Connect file directly from your bank, not from inside QuickBooks.

  1. Sign in to your bank's website
  2. Find and download the Web Connect file (.qbo file).
  3. Open QuickBooks and your company file. Then follow the steps to import the .qbo file.

If the error continues, I recommend reaching out to your bank to check if there are any changes in your account settings when downloading transactions.

You can also follow the detailed guides from this link for additional troubleshooting steps: Fix Web Connect import errors.
