Question

Unlink bank account - now expenses

I linked my bank account to QBO, and the mess of imported transactions turned into a whole mess to match. I decided to unlink the account following the QBO instructions, but as a result, all of those imported bank transactions have been turned into expenses, no longer connected to any bills or journal entries.

How do I revert back to pre-bank import? Restoring to a pre-bank link date left the transactions as expenses too.

Hello pcstacchaini,

Thank you for joining the QuickBooks Community! I will be happy to help. You can change the category on the transactions. To change the category of a bank transaction in QuickBooks, follow the steps below:

  1.  Navigate to the "For Review" tab under "Bank Transactions,"
  2. Select the transaction, choose the correct category from the dropdown, and click "Apply" or "Apply and Accept".

However, if you prefer to un-match the transaction, here's how:

  1. Go to Transactions, then select Bank transactions
  2. Select the tile for the bank or credit card account you downloaded the transaction from.
  3. Select the Categorized tab.
  4. Find the transaction you want to unmatch.
  5. Select the blue transaction link in the Added or Matched column to see the matched transaction. This image shows the added or matched column in the Reviewed tab in the Banking menu.
  6. Select Undo from the Action column.

Please let me know if you have any other questions! My team and I will be here to help. See you soon.
