What does the box with the “+” sign on credit card transactions mean?

I recently had 5 receipts clear without action on my part - when I go the register, they have a + listed with multiple boxes in the “cleared/reconciled” box. I don’t know what happened, or what it means.

Hello there, @marilynjbennett.

I'll be happy to help you with your confusion about what the "+" sign means when you go to register and view your credit card transaction.

Beforehand, let me share information about what it means. The "+" sign that you see in your credit card transactions means that the transaction is automatically added to the bank rule.

If you say bank rule, it creates rules that automatically categorize transactions for you, this will help you speed up the review process as well. You can check the existing bank rule in your account.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking tab.
  2. Select Rules and then check the Status if it is Active or Disabled.
  3. In the Action column, you can click Edit to revise the rule. You can also click the dropdown icon to change its status.

You may want to learn more about setting up bank rules, you can read through this article: Set up bank rules to categorize online banking transactions in QuickBooks Online.

If you require any additional assistance with bank rules, please post again or leave a comment on this thread. I'll be happy to assist you. Take care and have a wonderful day!
