You may need a 3rd party app to import the data. Which file format you can get? e.g *.pdf, *.csv, *.qbo ?

I’m here to share some insights about importing credit card charges from Discover to QuickBooks Desktop, argylian19.

QuickBooks downloads the credit card transactions based on the data provided by Discover. Since they discontinued the service to QuickBooks and Quicken, you'll want to check for a third-party application that can help you with this one. You can check out the apps that are compatible with QuickBooks at this link: QuickBooks Desktop App Center. Just to enter a keyword in the search bar or browse through the categories to filter the results.

Also, you can download a file (.QBO) with your company's transactions from your credit card. Then you import that file to QuickBooks to add those transactions to your accounts. If Discover offers Web Connect, just follow the steps below:

  1. From Banking, select Bank Feeds.
  2. Choose Import Web Connect Files.
  3. Select the .QBO file you saved, then select Open.
  4. When asked to select your bank account:
  • Use a QuickBooks account that exists if the account you're importing transactions into is already set up in QuickBooks.
  • Create a new QuickBooks account if the account you're importing transactions into isn't in QuickBooks yet. Learn how to create an account.
  1. Press Continue. You'll see a dialog box telling you that the data has been successfully read into QuickBooks. Select OK.
  2. Go to the Bank Feeds Center to review your transactions.

Then, to ensure your transactions are accurately categorized, you have to carefully review and match them. For the detailed steps, please see this article: Add and match Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop. Feel free to visit our Banking page for more insights about managing your bank feeds and reconciling accounts.

As always, feel free to post again here if you have any further concerns about importing your credit card transactions to QuickBooks. I'm always here to help you. Thanks for dropping by.

I had the same question and now have another:  how do I download a file with the .QBO extension?  Currently I have 3 options:  save as PDF; Excel; CSV.   I do not know how to proceed from there.  Thank you.

Good evening, @Breesgal

Thanks for chiming in on this thread about downloading credit card transactions.

The question you asked would be better answered by your credit card/bank to see if you can download the transactions to the file type.

If not, you should be able to convert a CSV to a .QBO file. Here's a guide that provides more information about importing and exporting data in QuickBooks Desktop

I hope this helps. I'm only a post away if you have any trouble. Have a wonderful day!
