Question

What should I do to reconcile my new account? It says there is one payment of $27.50, but there isn't, according to the statement. There was just one charge for $27.50.

Quickbooks says the difference is $55. I don't get it. This should be the easiest reconciliation ever, as beginning balance is 0.

I've come to help you successfully reconcile your new account, @kmetres.

When you see a difference while reconciling your account, below are the steps you can perform to fix this so you can finish it right away.

Let's start with reviewing the opening and beginning balances. Once verified that it is correct, proceed in checking the ending balance entered. Let me walk you through the process:

  1. Head to the Gear and choose Chart of Accounts.
  2. Then, click the Reconcile tab.
  3. Look for your new account from the search field and click Resume reconciling.
  4. Next, select the Edit info button to check the Ending balance and Ending date.
  5. Make necessary changes if required.
  6. Click Save when done.

If you see the same thing even after making sure the ending balance is correct, perform Steps 3 to 7 of this article: Fix issues at the end of reconciliation in QuickBooks Online.

Keeping a handy copy of your previous reconciliation is a great help to avoid errors when you're going to reconcile for the next month. To do so, simply pull up a reconciliation report. You can either print or export it so you can use it as a reference guide.

Get back to me here if you need further assistance reconciling your new account. I'll be waiting to know your results. I want to ensure your success. Have a good one.

This is a copy and paste reply not at all helpful to my situation. I did review all of the steps in your two articles. Like I wrote, there is only one transaction, and the beginning and ending balances are correct. I will need to call in.
