Question

When I click "New Donor Type" and then enter the word "Resident" it always shows the failure popup (in red) "Failure to create Resident".Does this happen to others too?

Hello there, treasurernhtrans.

First and foremost we appreciate for posting here in the community. I'd be happy to help you resolve your concern, but before we proceed, may I ask if is this the exact error that you received?

If you received that problem, it's possible that you already have a donor type with the same name, including inactive. You can also add the same name, but be sure to include additional characters. Simply look at the screenshot below.

If the name is still not on the list of donors, we can add troubleshooting to your computer. To isolate the problem, please sign in to your QBO account in a private or incognito window. This mode does not use any existing cache data and helps us to determine whether the issue is connected to your browser.

Here's how:

For Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N

For Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P

For Safari: Command + Option + P

If it works, go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to delete those temporarily stored files and browsing history. You can also use other supported up-to-date browsers to roll out the possibility of a browser-related issue.

I've got you this article to track the funds you received from your donor: Track funds you receive from donors in QuickBooks Online.

If you have follow-up questions about this or any other QuickBooks-related concerns, please don't hesitate to click the reply button below. I'm willing to help and assist you anytime. Take care and stay safe.

The donor type was being added but there was a technical issue that occurred behind the scenes (it could be seen in the development tools dialog).
