I'm pleased to have you in the Community, @mull1. I'll share some details on why you're unable to match transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

When you click the Find Match option in QBO, there are a few reasons why certain transactions, do not appear (QBO). Please see below:

  • The transactions entered in QBO don't simply match the number, amount, date, or payee of your downloaded bank deposits.
  • The transaction/s you want to match have been reconciled.
  • The transaction entered in QBO has already been matched to another downloaded transaction.
  • The transactions were downloaded twice. If these transactions have already been added to QBO and have a lightning bolt in the CLR column, they will not be matched again.

After confirming everything, we can utilize the Find Match feature to show all potentially matched transactions. Follow these steps to do that:

  1. Go to Banking and select the Banking tab.
  2. Click the Find other records button.
  3. In the Match Transactions window, put a checkmark on the transactions that should match the downloaded transaction.
  4. If the transaction you want to match is outside the date range displayed, update it. You can click the date field to manually change the From and To dates.
  5. Select Save if the total amount of both transactions is the same.
  6. Click Save.

You can refer to this article for the complete guide on how to add and match downloaded transactions in QBO: Add and match downloaded banking transactions.

When I click on find match on any item in Transaction, nothing happens. Nothing. Repeat clicking eventually leads to a screen saying would you like to exist without saving.

Hi there, I just found a bank transaction for deposit. After I click on match and go back to check customer transactoin. There is no deduction shown up in customer account. In addition, when I select GO TO Register, the transaction wasn't there either. I have no where to find this deposit transaction any more.

Hi there, Anmin. When you match a transaction in the For Review tab, it automatically transfers to the Categorized tab. I'm here to help you track it down.

We can look for that specific transaction by following these steps:

  1. Hover over the Transactions menu.
  2. On the Bank Transactions page, head to the Categorized tab.
  3. Look and click the matched items.

If the transaction did not appear, head over to the Excluded tab. Then, hit Undo to bring it back to the For Review tab.
