What do I have to do to use my existing checking account to pay my contractor and not add a new one?  This is simply to record the transaction in Quickbooks.

Let me help you show your existing checking account in the bank account dropdown, @Denna60.

First, you can manually type the name of your checking account in the Bank account dropdown.

If you can't see your checking account, you can go to the chart of accounts and check if it's active. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Chart of accounts.
  2. Choose the Settings icon next to the printer icon.
  3. Tick the Include inactive checkbox.

If your account is inactive, you can make it reactivate it by selecting the account and clicking Make active.

However, if your checking account is already active, a cache-related issue is likely causing the inability to see it on the bank account dropdown. If this is the case, you can perform some troubleshooting steps. You can use a private or incognito browser to rule out cache problems. Here are the shortcut keys:

  • For Mozilla Firefox browser: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Google Chrome browser: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Safari browser: Command + Shift + N

Next, log in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account and review if your checking account is in the bank account dropdown. If a private browser won't work, you can use other installed supported browsers.

In case you want to fix a contractor payment, you can check out this article for guidance: Void or cancel contractor payments.

Please let us know if you have any other concerns besides the inability to see your checking account in the bank account dropdown. We're always available to help you out. Have a great day!
