It's good to have you here, @dr-valega.

Being able to reconcile your account without any issues is our goal, as this process is vital for your finances. If you don't see the transaction or reference numbers on your checks, it's possible that they weren't assigned in the first place. This can also happen if there is an issue with the webpage causing this unexpected behavior.

For this, you can click the check to expand the details and see if the Ref No box is empty. You can input the number there if the box doesn't show anything. See this:

If the Ref No box shows the transaction number but shows blank when saved, this could be a possible webpage problem.

Open your account in a private web browser, so we can identify if this is a caching problem. Unexpected issues in QuickBooks are sometimes associated with the amount of data stored in the cache. This is because a regular browser will constantly overwrite itself and will not remove history unless done manually.

Private browsing will not save any history, so it's a great place to identify issues in the browser. Use these keyboard shortcuts to launch a new private window:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: press Command Shift N

If it works, clear the cache to resolve browser issues in QBO. You can also use a different browser and see if the issue persists there.

Post here again if you have other concerns with the the reconciliation process in QuickBooks. I'll be right here if you need further assistance. Have a nice day.
